Bespoke vases in a variety of styles and colours inspired by the flowers in my garden

These handmade baskets are all about family; made at a time when someone special was undergoing a medical crisis. I gifted his wife the black basket, the first one I made. The white baskets made after symbolise hope and good health! 

The spoonrests with small bowls make lovely gifts. All have been sold, but can be made to order, but with slight adjustments to the design to maintain the individuality of each piece. I try not to make more than 1 of each design!

The olive-print sets were a special order for a special friend who was gifting the pieces to her families.

A jug is a must-have in a home. A handmade hand-painted jug is precious!

I made the white water jug with sugar bowl and milk jug at pottery class before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The pieces lay for more than a year on the shelf while we were all in lockdown. They survived due to Heleen, the pottery teacher, taking special care of then in my abscence. 

The pieces remian my most favorite peices; possibly because they outlived the pandemic, and because I love white, and antiquated looking pottery!

The blue jugs were made at class using an old lace fabric. One jug has already been sold; its partner all alone!

The orange jugs were bisques bought and handpainted using a stencil.

I love flowers and I love painting flowers, so painting these pieces in animal print forced me out of my comfort zone. It also made me realise the importance of stepping up and stepping out - that I should not limit myself but explore and grow!

These baskets were inspired by the sudden appearance of birds in my garden, the yellow finches and the plovers. im fortunate enough to have made a connection with them over the years; so much so that they call out to me for food. 

Their apperance symbolise the coming of spring - my favorite season!

The next set of photos I will post will be of the baskets once they become leather-hard after drying for a few weeks. I will then bisque-fire the baskets and then glaze them.

Proteas were one of my mums favorite flowers. These stunning beauties remind me of my childhood and of living in Cape Town and hiking up Muizenberg Mountain. 

These candlestick holders were made with a new direction in mind - african inspired pottery pieces. 

The next step is to glaze the pieces and do the final firing!
